The State Bank of Vietnam set the daily reference exchange rate at 23,055 VND per USD on June 21, down 10 VND from the previous day (June 20).
With the current trading band of +/- 3 percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,746 VND per USD and the floor rate at 22,363 VND/USD.
The opening hour rates at commercial banks continued the downward trend.
At 8:15 am, Vietcombank listed the buying rate at 23,240 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,360 VND/USD, both down 15 VND from the same time on June 20.
Both buying and selling rates at BIDV also dropped by 20 VND to 23,235 VND/USD (buying) and 23,355 VND/USD (selling).
Techcombank cut both rates by 25 VND to 23,225 VND/USD (buying) and 23,365 VND/USD (selling).
During the week from June 17 to 21, the reference exchange rate went up on the first two days but dropped towards the end of the week. The rate ended the week down 14 VND compared to Monday.
The rates at commercial banks also declined on the second half of the week, concluding the week much lower than the rates at the week’s beginning. -VNA
