Vietjet has been named one of the world’s safest airlines for 2026 by AirlineRatings.com, the airline said on Tuesday, marking another year in which it has appeared in the global safety ranking.

 

AirlineRatings, an independent airline safety and product rating website, has also maintained a seven-out-of-seven safety rating for Vietjet since 2018, according to the carrier.

 

Vietjet was ranked alongside global low-cost airlines including EasyJet, Southwest Airlines and Ryanair, reflecting what the company said was its sustained performance in safety and operational reliability.

 

“Vietjet Air has delivered steady growth while maintaining fleet continuity and a high level of operational reliability,” Sharon Petersen, chief executive of AirlineRatings.com, said in a statement. She added that the airline’s young fleet and 'flawless safety record' over two decades of operations supported its safety credentials.

 

AirlineRatings assesses more than 320 airlines worldwide using criteria such as incident records, fleet age, pilot training standards and international safety audits. This year’s evaluation placed greater emphasis on turbulence management, the company said.

 

Vietjet said it operates a modern, fuel-efficient fleet with a technical reliability rate of 99.72 per cent and holds IOSA and ISAGO safety certifications from the International Air Transport Association. The airline also participates in IATA safety enhancement programmes.

 

The carrier added that it expanded its fleet by 22 aircraft within one month, the largest fleet expansion in its history, aimed at improving operational efficiency.

 

AirlineRatings provides airline safety and product assessments used by travellers globally and is regarded as a key benchmark in the aviation industry.

 

One-day 30 per cent discount on Deluxe tickets

 

In a another move, Vietjet said it is offering a one-day promotion giving passengers a 30 per cent discount on Deluxe tickets across all domestic and international routes.

 

The promotion applies to bookings made on January 15 via the airline’s website or mobile application using the promo code 'DELUXE2026', Vietjet said.

 

The discount applies to base fares only, excluding taxes and fees, for travel between February 1 and December 31, 2026, according to the airline.

 

Vietjet said Deluxe ticket holders receive additional benefits including free seat selection, itinerary changes and up to 40kg of checked baggage. — VNS
