Russia’s currency, the ruble (RUB), has experienced a slump in the past year. It had some recovery during
the first half of the year but has performed particularly badly over the past three months. It was now 70.8 at RUB to the USD, exceeding the peak reached in late January this year. Compared to the beginning of the year, the depreciation of RUB has been 19.68% versus the USD. From May 18, 2015, the RUB has depreciated 40.9%. In the meantime, from the year-beginning, other major currencies, such as the Euro
and Yen have depreciated 7.2% and 0.4% respectively.
